Join your neighbors to celebrate the end of another great summer at Oak Hills!


EVENT SCHEDULE 
10am: Tennis Tournament begins. Sign up at the rec. $20 per player and cost covers snacks and awards.
6-8pm: Potluck and musical guest Larry Wilder, Champion of Americana.

The Larry Wilder Band entertains!
These masters of Americana music, whether bluegrass, cowboy, folk, blues, roots country, pop and other stops on the Americana trail

In the Larry Wilder Band (aka Stumptown Stars), every member is a lead and harmony singer. The variety never stops.  Expect the finest work on guitar, banjo, harmonica, fiddle, mandolin and bass.   

Repertoire includes Kingston Trio, Carter Family, Johnny Cash, Pete Seeger, Sons of the Pioneers, Irving Berlin, Flatt & Scruggs, Bob Wills, Hank Williams, Woody Guthrie, Gordon Lightfoot, Roy Orbison, Bill Monroe, Leadbelly, many other roots sources, plus original compositions. You’ll be singing along!  All ages OK. 

About the band...
Larry Wilder—Champion of Americana. Larry has opened for Willie Nelson, Lyle Lovett, Bonnie Raitt, Lily Tomlin and Pete Seeger.   Larry has led bands on tours of Japan (1980) and Europe (1998, 2007, 2010).  His 7 string banjo brings unique stylings and even two songs simultaneously!  Also a songwriter, guitarist and Autoharpist, Wilder has released four CD’s and is nationally recognized for his fast-paced Americana shows—solo or with the band.  Larry is 2008 U. S. Yodeling Champion.

Jon Lindahl—bass guitar, vocals, sound tech.  Owner/engineer: Grammy Award winning Fresh Tracks Studio.  

Cliff Ashmon—Blues harmonica wizard/vocalist.  A fixture in Northwest music circles for decades, Cliff is a singer/songwriter known for his catchy compositions.

Kian Dye—18 year old former Oregon State and U. S. Twin Fiddling Champion along with Wilhelmina FrankZerda, 16.  Both are fine vocalists along with their soaring fiddle work.

Chris Standridge—from Piney Grove, TN, guitarist/ mandolinist Chris lends his authentic bluegrass, gospel and old-time singing.

August 29th: Dive-In Movie

Once again, the Oak Hills Dive In Movies return! Come lounge by the pool for this summer treat. Movie will begin at dusk. In case of inclement weather or viewing difficulty the movie may be played in the gym.

The Rec will be decorated in a 50's theme, so start digging in your closets for your poodle skirts and white t-shirts!

8-9pm: More music and dancing

Friends in and out of the neighborhood welcome! The more the merrier! 

BYOB- This is a family event. Please be discreet. No entry into the gated pool area is alcohol has been consumed.

August 16th-17th: Family Star Gazing Camp Out

Each year our planet passes through a cloud of comet dust, creating the Perseid meteor showers. Come camp out on the greenbelt, stay up late and count the shooting stars at this treasured event! All children must be accompanied by an adult in order to participate. Activities as follows:

SATURDAY, AUGUST 16 
7 pm: Set up tents on the greenbelt near the tennis courts 
8 pm: Enjoy glow in the dark fun in the pool 
9 pm: S’mores and camp songs around the fire in the Rec picnic area
10pm: Count shooting stars while camping on the green belt 

SUNDAY, AUGUST 17 
7–8:30 am: Breakfast is prepared for you in the Rec picnic area

Summer Concert, Wine Tasting & Dessert Event. There will be dessert samples provided by Outback Steak House, as well as wine and wonderful music by Corner Pocket Jazz Quartet. 

Corner Pocket is a jazz quartet dedicated to swinging hard and bringing it home! Comprised of four long-time professional musicians, the band’s broad repertoire is fun and and enjoyable. You will hear their collective musical influences which range from Count Basie, Stan Kenton, and Duke Ellington, to Miles Davis, George Benson, and Chuck Mangione. 

Leader Sydney Jill Lehman is recognized as one of the premier jazz pianists on the West coast. She has played with some of the best jazz artists in the world—including Dizzy Gillespie. 

Corner Pocket also features the guitar stylings of Charles Steen, and bassist Ken Anoe. Add drums to the mix, and all of the ingredients are there for music at its finest!

We suggest that homeowners bring a snack to share: for example, a cheese tray, grapes, olives...

The police and fire department will be at the Rec Center to help us celebrate NNO. The swim team will also sell lunch at the Rec from 12 - 2 p.m.
