Oak Hills Recreation
Swim Team

The Oak Hills Swim Team has been active for nearly 40 years! Hundreds of swimmers have learned to swim and competed under the Oak Hills Recreation Program, establishing itself as one of the hallmarks of the Oak Hills neighborhood.

In previous years, the Oak Hills Swim Team has participated in the Metro Portland Summer Swim League. This year will exciting as most of the teams are growing their teams!

We will offer swimmers the opportunity to learn more about the essential four strokes, get great exercise for an hour each day, and most importantly have fun with their friends throughout the summer.

Swim Team registration is open to all Oak Hills residents and their families. Registration is also open to swimmers from outside Oak Hills if they are  sponsored by a resident. Team size is limited and priority is given to Oak Hills residents.

I am excited to be an official part of the Oak Hills Swim Team! I was a Rec swimmer in the Bay area from age 5-16, joined the USS at age 16 and swam for UC Santa Barbara in college. I've coached Rec swim and privately from age 15 through college. I recently reconnected with my love of swimming and competing through joining the US Masters T-Hills Barracudas in December 2022. I truly believe my long term love of the sport is because of fun memories I have of racing my friends in our neighborhood pool! I cannot wait to bring that balance of fun and learning to OHST this summer!
The mission for all Oak Hills Recreation programs and facilities is to provide a safe, healthy and inviting environment for recreation and learning to all Oak Hills residents and their guests, in order to foster goodwill and pride in our neighborhood.
REQUIREMENTS
All swimmers must be able to demonstrate proficiency in two different competitive strokes, each for two lengths of our pool. We welcome all qualified swimmers whether they choose to compete on swim meets or just attend practice. All Parents are booster group members and volunteer hours are required but fun.
MEET OUR COACHES!
ABBIE, ABBY AND LESLIE!
I grew up around the water and started swimming recreationally in the 7th grade. In high school, I swam on Sunset's varsity team all four years, attending districts three of those years. I also played varsity water polo my freshman, sophomore and senior year. I was 2nd team all metro for offense, MVP, offensive player of the year for the women's team and captain my senior year. I have received scholar athletic awards all four years. I also have enjoyed teaching swim lessons at Oak Hills for the past two years.

I started my journey of swimming with the oak hills swim team when I was around 8 years old. I swam for the Dolphins and I have swim taught for 5 years now!! I love to teach swim because it was a huge part of my life growing up and I love the community plus family that grows from it! My favorite part of swim meets is watching kids cheer each other on!
