Oak Hills Recreation
Swim Lessons

Oak Hills offers group and private swim lessons to all Oak Hills residents ages 3 and up. All lessons are taught by Oak Hills swim instructors.

​Reminders:
  • It is recommended that swimmers not wear goggles during lessons.
  • Only the swimmer will be allowed into the pool deck area during lesson times. We kindly ask that parents and guardians only be on the pool deck for drop off and pick up. 
The mission for all Oak Hills Recreation programs and facilities is to provide a safe, healthy and inviting environment for recreation and learning to all Oak Hills residents and their guests, in order to foster goodwill and pride in our neighborhood.

Group Swim Lessons

Group lessons are offered during the summer swim season on weekdays. There are three separate two-week sessions (see information chart below). Each group swim lesson is 30 minutes with times available in the morning and evening. Lesson times are listed by START time. 
Tuition fees are $80 per session of eight 30-minute lessons, per swimmer. Registration is on a first come, first served basis, and classes are limited. Please note that residents must be in good standing with the HOA in order to register for any recreation activities. 
*Please note: All swim lessons must be paid in full before the first lesson. NO REFUNDS WILL BE GIVEN if cancellation is less then one week prior to the first lesson. 
To Register:
  • Determine the age of your student at the time of the lesson. 
  • Choose the lesson session date(s) and time(s) that work best for your schedule.
  • Register and pay ONLINE through our Jackrabbit program service. Click the "Register" link(s) below as listed next to class information.
  • IF THE CLASS IS FULL - PLEASE ENROLL ON THE WAITLIST. CLASSES WILL BE ADDED ACCORGING TO NEED AND AVAILABILITY OF INSTRUCTORS. 
  • PLEASE DO NOT REGISTER FOR MORE THAN ONE CLASS DURING A SESSION. WE STAFF TO THE AMOUNT OF KIDS SCHEDULED.

SWIM LESSON PROGRAM 2023

OHHA Swim lessons for the summer of 2023 have been broken down into ages and stages of development better to meet the needs and abilities of those in lessons.
  • 3 and 4 years old
    • CORE SKILLS: Trust & comfort in the water, Body position & Floats, Intro to Body Movement in the Water, Retrieve Submerged Object (With Support). Change Direction.
    • SAFETY: Always ask for permission to go into the water. Rolling from front to back floats and back to front floats.
  • 5 and 6 years old
    • CORE SKILLS: Body Position and Movement, Development of the Foundations for Front Crawl and Backstroke, Retrieve Submerged Object.
    • SAFETY: Know how to get help. Jump into the water above head, to a back float for 5 seconds, and move to exit the water. 
  • 7 and 8 years old
    • CORE SKILLS: Refinement of Front crawl and Back Stroke (Body roll, side breathing).  Introduction to Breast Stroke and Butterfly.  Development of Endurance (Swimming the width of the pool)
    • SAFETY: Reach, Throw, Don's Go. Know how to contact EMS. Treading Water, and Proper Use of Lifejackets.
  • 9 and above
    • CORE SKILLS: Stroke improvement and endurance.  (Front Crawl, Back Stroke, Breast Stroke, and Butterfly)
    • SAFETY: Never swim alone.
  • Teen/Adult (15 and above)
    • CORE SKILLS: Range from Intro to swimming and body position to stroke improvement.
    • SAFETY: Never swim alone.
  • Junior Guarding (12-15)
    • Prerequisite: Must be able to swim a 25 yards Front Crawl, Back Stroke, and Breaststroke.
    • CORE SKILLS: Development of Lifeguard Skills, Improve Endurance. (American Red Cross Curriculum)
    • SAFETY: Into lifesaving skills.

Private Swim Lessons

Private swim lessons, including adults, are available to Oak Hills residents and must be coordinated through the Aquatics Director. Lesson times are generally on weekdays or by arrangement. You may have your choice of our instructors. 
Registration
Fee (per 30-minute lesson for each swimmer): $30
